      Last year, we took the kids to a Raptors 905 game and in the past we have done Blue Jays games and Marlies hockey games. The problem is that the games would need to be during the day. Teachers have many family responsibilities outside of the school day and are not always available for this type of activity during the evenings. My own family keeps me very busy when I am not at school.

    French Tutors

    Would a French tutor be available if i ever needed one. Does Emily Carr have tutor resources.

    Tutors would be a family responsibility should that be something you are interested in. There are many private institutions and individuals offering these services. We can discuss at interviews.

lundi, le 5 juin: The students had Art and a special Rugby presentation during their Library period today. In français, we went over vocabulary for les sports, les activités, les verbes, et les équipements. Next we reviewed the verb faire de. In Math, the students had a probability test on google classroom. We had Reading Buddies, followed by more time to complete the Math test. We ran out of time for English, but I have sent them home with a review sheet on similes and metaphors to review what we have been doing in class. Just a reminder that this coming Thursday is our school's Jump Rope for Heart Event.  Try to get the donation envelopes in before the event.  Also, Friday is a PA Day.  There will be no school for students on that day. mardi, le 6 juin: In français, the students did some translation work using jouer, faire, les activités, and les endroits. What did you do at school today? NOVEMBER edition

mardi, le 1er novembre: We began the day in the computer lab.  We are learning to use PowerPoint to make a slideshow presentation which we will be doing in a few weeks in Social Studies.  Today was just getting familiar with the program and testing out different effects. In français, the students used one period to practice and prepare for their weather forecasts.  In order to be most effective, they will need to memorize their presentation.   *Presentations will take place on Monday next week rather than this Friday so they can use the weekend to memorize. In Études Sociales, we spent some time learning how to use a French/English dictionary properly to help them when reading new Social Studies texts in French.  We continued to learn about the main industries in Nova Scotia. In Science, Ms. Takahashi has them working on creating their own Science games. What did you do at school today? February edition

mercredi, le 1er février: In français, the students completed some ER verb practice on Google classroom. In Math, they reviewed elapsed time and analog clocks in preparation for the quiz on Friday. In English, the students worked on their narratives about their Reading Buddies. Don't forget that we are going skating tomorrow afternoon so anyone who has his/her own skates and/or helmets needs to bring them to school tomorrow. jeudi, le 2 février: In français, I taught the students how to tell the time in French.  We watched some videos about it before discussing it as a class and doing some in-class practice.  The videos are below: We got fitted for helmets and that was the morning!  We had a great afternoon skating despite having a minor hiccup when we arrived (the arena was not ready and we needed to wait until someone could come out and get it ready for us).  They should be nice and tired for you tonight.  I was really impressed by the chil
